Senator Handley 2004 Accomplishments
MCC
Approval of the state-funding request for the planned upgrade of the Great Path Academy , a magnet school operated on the campus of, and in conjunction with, Manchester Community College. Senator Handley fought for the approval of approximately $40 million will finance a permanent facility and expanded enrollment in the developing program.
ConnPace
As Chair of the Human Services Committee, Senator Handley proposed legislation to repeal the controversial new state policy to seek reimbursement for ConnPACE assistance from the estate of ConnPACE participants.
Rape Response Team
Mary Ann was instrumental in the creation of a regional, interdisciplinary rape response team. The task force follows the recent allegations of numerous sexual assaults. Its purpose would be to establish a specific way to deal with this type of situation should this ever happen again.
Environment
Senator Handley has earned the highest possible evaluation from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters for the 2004 legislative session. She was given a perfect 100% rating by the esteemed environmental watchdog organization.
